My boyfriends friend said he is like a sibling to her, can this be true?

My boyfriend has a friend They never met in person and met through a language exchange application. I was fine with it at first but one day I started to feel that this friend was having too much input into our relationship. However, I told him not to talk to her about our relationship since he’s not dating her, he is dating me so he needs to talk to me about our relationship because she gave an opinion and it almost broke us up. One day this “friend” sent a package from America to my boyfriend in japan (she lives in America and we live in japan) it was two sets of beat headphones. These head phones range around 300$ a piece. I asked why she is sending such an expensive package. He said she is just really nice. During this heated conversation I found out he and her have been messaging everyday (on Instagram) This friend of his told my boyfriend to tell me “it’s just a gift. I spoil my siblings all the time. There’s no intentions behind it and to not feel offended by it. We have been friends for a long time and we talk everyday we are truly like siblings. I have a boyfriend too.” Her boyfriend lives in korea and they never met either. I felt she crossed the line. I felt she was trying to be a home wrecker by trying to keep my boyfriend attention just in case the guy in Korea doesn’t work out. I might sound crazy but I told him to stop talking to her and to send the screen shot of the message he sent her that says they can’t talk anymore. He did and they unfollowed each other. Although I feel terrible about it but I also a sense of relief. I felt she was a threat to our relationship and was trying to Brain wash my boyfriend by saying they are siblings, she’s a nice person, and how she supposedly has a boyfriend in korea who she hasn’t met. I just would like some opinions about this situation. I’m still bothered even though he said he won’t talk to her anymore. I just can’t believe he just didn’t see what she was doing.

girl, lemme tell you, i've been here before and you did the right thing. i've trusted my ex and my girl friends and they all betrayed me so no, you don't sound crazy. i understand it completely. even if they did have a "sibling" relationship, if it made you uncomfortable, he shouldn't have even hesitated to stop talking to her. i also do think she may have liked him and used that little cover up in case her relationship didn't work out.
i've had a guy friend who i consider my older brother whp also lives across the world and i've never once sent him gifts or anything. even when he was in a relationship, i stopped talking to him for a while and would only occasionally text him stuff like "hey! how are you? i hope you're well, have a good day today." i always considered his girlfriend's feelings and never tried to cross that limit and make her uncomfortable.

TL:DR "Friends" of the opposite gender are and always will be a threat to an existing relationship.
