Girls, do you ask a guy about his past relationships and dating history?

I was also wondering if this is something you ask about, what is your reaction if he says that he has a lot of experience and dated a bunch of different girls or if he says that he has little to no experience and hasn’t dated anyone.

I think it's an important question to ask. You get to know so much about the person. Was there a bad breakup? How does he talk about his exes? Is there something triggering? Is there something I should know? What were the reasons they broke up?

I have an ex I didn't really ask and I ended up regretting it as it turned out he had very different values in life than me and he turned out to be polyamorous which he had hidden from me and his recent ex was a break up he wasn't over as I thought and there hadn't been long since they broke up. Anyway, it was ugly.

  That’s understandable why you would ask, especially because of what you went through when you didn’t ask about it. What’s your opinion if its a guy who’s older (like 25-30) who’s never dated anyone or been in a relationship before. Because I’ve heard some say that’s actually baggage too in its own sort of way because there’s a chance he could become clingy since she’s his first and it might require a lot of patience on her part because he’s still learning how dating and relationships work and there could be instances where she has to take the time to teach him things that most people his age already know.

  That's important information to know, yes. And yes, your reasoning is correct, but that's also the reason why it's important to talk about. And it can be baggage all depending on how he handles it.
  
  I would talk with him about it. Is there a reason for it? What's important is that he's honest and open about it.

  Yeah I’ve also heard that the reason for why he’s never dated and has no experience matters a lot because you don’t know if it could be due to something like a mental illness, emotional issues, issues with intimacy, or even a physical dysfunction. On the other hand, it could also be a more understandable reason like he was just busy with other things like school or career building and didn’t have time to date or even had confidence issues when he was younger so he never put himself out there. I think that being honest and open about it is probably better too because a girl who has experience with dating and relationships will probably be able to figure out that he doesn’t have much experience with it as time goes on, due to some mistakes that he’ll probably end up making or due to being unsure what to do in certain situations within a relationship.
