Should I try dating apps if I can't find someone in real life?

Been feeling so lonely lately and would love to meet new people but it's hard to do that in real life with this pandemic. I fell in love with someone that I could never have, so I want to just looking for someone new to get over them. I don't have a good social connection either in real life. I literally have zero options right now. I'm not looking for anything serious. I just want to meet someone new to have casual date with or to hang out with. Is it a good idea to try dating apps to meet new people?

I know we must beware that some guys only want sex, at this point I wouldn't mind to have a hookup only. But if you're looking for a serious relationship, it would be hard to find that nowadays

I always recommend people trying to find others that share the same hobbies via events, gatherings, etc. Dating apps will mostly only get you fucked.
