Me and this guy have been seeing each other for a little over a month. We've been inseparable since we met. He's introduced me to his parents, and his two children. He's even met my family within the past week. Well, we went take a drive two nights ago and I didn't have my phone so I asked him to use his to send a text to my sister since we were on the way to her house. He handed me his phone and when I went to his texts I saw texts with a girls name right underneath my texts in his phone. He initiated the conversation and he said "Hey bae!" She responded back "Hey you!" and then he responded with "I'm sorry I texted you. It was a mistake, I'm seeing someone and should've never reached out." He sent the text the night prior when he was out with a few of his friends, and they had been drinking.
I damn near lost it in my head but instead I just handed him his phone back on that text, open. He immediately pulled over and wanted to talk about it. He said "I don't know what I was thinking. I don't have a logical answer for it. And I know that I hurt you over this and that kills me more than anything." I just told him I wanted to go home and I needed a minute. He said "No! We're talking about this right now and you can't leave me because I'm in love with you!" (First time those words came out).
I said you're in love with me but you texted another woman! He said "I KNOW! I don't have a good reason for it. I guess I'm scared to be in another relationship because I'm always the one to get hurt." I just explained that that's no excuse and that I'm not any one of his exes. He agreed and kept apologizing. When we got back to his house he wouldn't leave my side. He showed me that he removed the girls phone number from his phone (I watched him delete it).
My guard is up big time now because I'm also in love with him. But before that incident, I had no reason not to trust him. Does it sound like he is genuine or should I leave?
