So I honestly thought I found the one this guy I was introduced to we hit it off and we’ve been messaging non stop. He lovely and amazing to me really kind and sweet , always reassuring and tells me how much he likes me. However I am brunette olive skin and brown eyes , he once mentioned at the start he liked pale girls with coloured eyes and I let that pass because he’s always telling me how beautiful I look no matter what state I am in ! However we were speaking about types again and he mentions it again he says tbh I do like coloured eyes and when I was younger I liked pale girls but now I’m older I like olive skin girls like you - I got really upset by that comment also his celeb crush looks nothing like me ! Is this guy using me is he genuine?

The concern is very genuine, it is very normal to have concern about this situation. The possibility of this person just wanting to sleep with you is very real, but then again their is a slight inconsistency. The guy already told you that he had a preference for pale skinned girls and coloured eyes, but now he has changed it, it could possibly mean that he has started to like you and is just reevaluating his preferences according to you. Give this guy a chance, but check how fast this guy is going, if he is trying to get close too fast then that would mean he is just there for sex, on the other hand, if he is taking it at a little slower pace then he might be genuine.

This is a redflag because it is unnecessary to mention, let alone to mention twice. It makes me think of those 'negging' tactics some guys use to foster uncertainty in a woman. The only reason I can think of for him to mention this more than once is to bring you down and to create doubt. Because it is quite subtle, many people will tell you that you are overacting, and he can easily pass it off as meaningless. That's the trick and often it works. If you give him a chance, be on your guard because without the slightest doubt, this is a redflag. I wonder if he was love bombing too...
