How to help my girlfriend get over her fear?

My girlfriend has a phobia of bugs she's even more scared of them now after a story she read it was a true story. There was this young girl who was found neglected by her family living in a room with feces filth and bugs everywhere she was only 7 when she was rescued had cockroaches everywhere bug bites on her living in a dirty diaper for who knows how long. Good thing the neighbors noticed because she was almost a skeleton close to death covered in bugs and filth. That terrified my girlfriend now she's even more afraid of bugs especially roaches. This scares her even more. The only bugs she likes are fireflies and butterflies. How can I help her get over this fear?

I don't know. You could ask her. But I think also having her speak to a professional if you did something you want to make sure you're not doing more harm then good. I know you love and care for her.

Especially if this is affecting her day to day life speaking with a professional might help tremendously.

Put her in a box with bugs and close it but it’s really a picture on paper so it’ll scare her but not real lmaoooo

You need to show her that almost all bugs are just as harmless as fireflies and butterflies.


Ladybugs and caterpillars are a good start.


Then stick bugs and grasshoppers.


Flying insects might be tricky though…
