Texting is slowing down?

Hello all!

I have been dating a guy for 6 months now. All of a sudden after a weekend spent together, he has slowed down texting to maybe 1 to 2 texts a day. These texts are short forward and he doesn't send follow up questions like he used to. This has been going on for a week now. We don't text while at work but he usually texts more frequently afterwards and he always has told me what is going on his life without me asking what he's doing and who's he going with. We used to go on and keep the conversation going for days but now it has come to a halt. He texts once or twice a day now and takes 3+ hours to respond. Our last date went great seeing that we spent the whole weekend together. I have stopped responded quickly and have let the conversation end so that he will have to be the one to contact me next. I should mention that the last date we had, he mentioned to his roommate that he wasn't bringing a date to his friend's wedding at the end of September because I'm out of town then. We are not in an official relationship, just seeing where things are going exclusively and both ok with it from the talks we've had. I'm just confused to the 180 change he did and I cannot pinpoint to anything other than he lost interest quickly.

Have you asked him specifically what he wants? I’m all about going with the flow, but the flow should be leading somewhere. The inconsistency is a red flag to me. Like it’s one thing if he’s always been a slow texter and preferred in person interactions, but instead he’s gone from one extreme to another. It could be him just getting comfortable, or maybe he doesn’t notice the change, but still, I think clarification is important.
