Is having a racial preference racist?

Considering the definition of racism it seems racist to favour one race over another.
Racism: Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalised.

No, I don't think so. Is it discriminatory to prefer blonde or brunette for instance? If I saw 4 ladies together in a room, one each of Oriental, Asian, black or Caucasian, all intelligent with similar figures, similar clothing and a similar upbringing and I was told to approach one to escort to dinner, who would I choose? Everything being equal, I would ask the Oriental lady, my 2nd choice being the Asian lady. Not because I'm prejudiced, but as with a work of art, I some paintings attract my eye more than others.

If however I'd had the opportunity to chat with each lady beforehand, I would have asked whoever appealed to me on an intellectual and shared interest basis. I would have picked up more on eye contact and genuineness of her personality.

If you can love your preference, and understand that they may not be everyone's preference, and without putting down or degrading other races, then you aren't being antagonistic, or claiming any race is superior to another (Racist). It's really just a matter of loving who you want to love without being disrespectful to other races of people.

If you want to argue that being more attracted to one race than another is discrimination, then you would also have to consider not dating anyone you're not attracted to to also be unfair discrimination. At some point we have to accept that nature isn't fair and attraction doesn't follow a politically correct man-made system.

Confusing discrimination and prejudice with racism is extremely problematic. You have to have a belief in the concept of race first.

I suppose it's about romantic/sexual preference. Actually, the great majority of people share a preference for their own race/ethnicity or what they're most familiar with. It's completely natural and there's an obvious evolutionary logic to it.

It's quite literally based on the race of the person so yes. If I said I prefer white friends over black ones, or I prefer white girlfriends over black ones. That is simply an example of racism so yes.
A friend should be a friend all the same no matter there race, and same for relationship.
As King said there shouldn't be barriers based on race. This would be a barrier.

No it's not, everyone has preferences and it's okay to want them.


For example it's okay to not fuck someone if you don't find them attractive or your type just so you don't come off as racist.

If anyone says it's racist tell them to sleep with that entire race rather than one person that way they can accumulate more anti racist points.

Dating outside your race can create issues. Just like dating outside your social class. So if I only date middle class people does that mean I'm a bad person? No. Im not against interracial couples but it can create problems, the parents may reject your kids or you. So. sorry to say this but sticking with your own kind can be better for you. I'm sorry if I sound like a racist it's just I've seen it happen and it can be pretty damaging for the kids.

It depends. If you just happen to be attracted to someone of a different race it's fine. But if you date someone of a difference race because you have a fetish with that race, then yes it's racist.

Saying you would only ever date one race is racist yes. But saying you have only ever been attracted to a certain race is not. The latter is saying you wouldn't be opposed to someone of a different race.

It's racist if you assume that members of some race are objectively inferior to others. It's not racist for you to be unattracted to most members of some race. You don't owe anyone a date.
