What do I do if a male friend invited me to an event, but starts seeing someone months before going to event?

To put context to my question, back in late August 2022 a good male friend invited me to an event for March of 2023.

But he just told me to day he has been seeing someone since November 2022, and asked me If I would still be able to attend the event he invited me to? and as of this moment I have nothing blocking me from still attending, but also told him if anything comes up that I would let him know well in advanced.

I also let him know that I don't want to interfere or make anyone feel uncomfortable, if I still attended the upcoming event with him, and he tells me everything should be fine.

I am happy for my friend for potentially finding someone, though now I feel awkward about attending the event with him not knowing what stage his relationship will be in by March, I've never been in this kind of situation before,

Also what's the difference of seeing someone and dating stage?
