Serious Question, be honest how many of you have used a family illness as an excuse to put off seeing a someone?

Serious question, how many times have you been out on a date or two with someone and everything is going seeming well... but then all of the sudden the say there is some type of family crisis, and they are not sure when they will be able to see you again.

In the last two weeks I had one tell me, her stepfather just had a stroke like the day after the first date... were we made out for about 30 minutes... hummm?

The second said, now pay attention it gets confusing... she says her stepdaughters, mother-in-law's grandmother passed away, so she really needs to be there for her daughter. Who is 22 years old... hummm?

Seriously have you all ever used a family illness before as an excuse not to be able to see someone?

This has happened to me like no less than 6 times so its no coincidence, they are making it up right?

It’s happened to me once, though I’ve never done it to anyone. I went on a date with a 21 year old lady when I was 19, our date was going really well, I invited her back to my place to hang out, and not long after she told me that her brother had just text her and told her that he needs her to meet him in town. So she said she would go and meet him, make sure he’s ok, and then come straight back since I lived in town. I said sure, no problem. She never came back, and when I tried to message her to ask if she was okay, it turned out she’d blocked me.

See, you have to remember that we live in a different world.

You being 47, you still remember a time prior to social media and Tinder and whatever other app exists these days. You actually had a chance.

Now, women have an overabundance of supply due to the aforementioned platforms making it too easy to find someone else.

So the slightest perceived "red flag" is going to send someone away and right back on their favorite dating site or app again.

NO DOUBT... they got so may options that they mind fuck themselves into believing that they really are who they think they are. So, if they see something that is not 100% dead on, they will chase the two birds in the bush, instead of the one in the hand.

What they fail to realize is that at least 70% of those options they believe are available to them, really are not. And even if they were they still would not be interested.

Everything comes down to supply and demand. It's the same thing during the hot economy we've been experiencing for the last 3 years. Everyone makes money and they think they're doing something smart when the reality is that everyone is just spending money that just fell into their laps.

She'll let you take her out and spend a shitload of money on her and then when you try to see about a second date, they're like, 'Nah, that's okay, I appreciate your generosity, but I'm not interested in anything else'

This woman will be back with ex boyfriend no doubt in my mind... if not him some other guy just like him... and it's not the men, it's her that is making all the same choices and mistakes and she is blind to it, and she knows it and there for she can't trust you, because she doesn't really trust herself.

Honestly I have never done that but apparently it's a very common lie. I have seen it used by parents a lot, when they want to pull kids out of school for a while to go on vacation outside of holiday period.

No, I don't lie. I would just tell you the truth. I really don't see the need to make up a lie. But then, I have been told that I am too blunt and that just because it's the truth doesn't mean that it isn't rude to say it. I would just tell you it wasn't working out.
