Is it a red flag that a guy who I matched with wants me to wear a particular color dress just because he likes that color?

We were planning our first date as we liked chatting and talking to one another and while discussing he just told me to wear something blue.

When I asked why he simply said "because I like my woman blue."

And I just brushed off that topic aside and talked about other things. After a while when we were about to say good bye he brought that topic again and said, "I am sure you will wear a blue dress for me".

Is it a red flag or am I overthinking?

It sounds like he has a control mindset sorry to say , usually when someone tells you what to wear and how you should look is a red flag that they only want what’s best for them , It’s ok to suggest an outfit to someone that you find attractive on them but when you are requesting someone to wear something for you, is sadly a red flag , especially if you aren’t in a committed relationship with that person and even so , it’s a control mindset , sadly a lot of people have this selfish control mindset that they feel it’s ok for them to do , like they own you , the only time this is acceptable is in the bedroom but outside the bedroom is a red flag. A person should accept you for the way you are period , if they can’t accept you for the way you are , then they don’t deserve you period. Sadly a lot of guys feel they should have a girl that he can control and sadly a lot of girls’ fall for this behavior thinking it’s her job to appease him and listen to what he says , but sadly in time you will start feeling you won’t ever be good enough if you don’t wear what he tells you to wear and you will feel like you always have to look good for him or he will lose interest in you if you don’t. you have to remember you should never have to change who you are to appease someone else , when someone expects you to change who you are as a person to appease them , that relationship isn’t going to last because you should never have to change for anyone , when someone asks you to change they feel they control you and own you they don’t value and appreciate who you are as a person. Someone should find you beautiful and amazing whether you are wearing sweat pants and a t shirt and accept who you are as a person , One thing I have never done to a girl was demand her to wear something to appease me , suggesting an outfit for her yes , but leaving it up to her on whether she wants to wear it or not , not controlling her

It's weird to say the least. Seems a little dominating. Personally, I would never tell a woman what color to wear... The woman would know best what color she looks good in.
It's not a big bright red flag but it might be a small one. This seems too controlling, especially for the first date.
If you want to put this to the test wear a different color and say you don't have a blue dress see if he gets angry. Then it becomes that giant red flag. Good luck.

I don't think it's odd to like a certain color on a woman. But I think it's odd to actually ask you to wear it on the first date. I don't think it's a red flag, but maybe a yellow.

By itself I don't think it means much. It might be nothing more than misjudging how appropriate such a request is for someone they don't know well. On the other hand, he could be a control freak. At this point I'd move forward with an open mind, but watch his behavior in the future.

he likes blue and is attracted to blue. presuming you and him matched you have similar interests nothing wrong with "putting your best foot forward". isn't really anything major though when paired with other things definitely could be. if you don't wear blue and he gets mad (not disappointed) then definitely a red flag. if you wear blue and he comments negatively about it also a red flag.

Not a red flag, asking you to wear a certain color isn't asking for much at all. If anything it may be a test of your character: if you are unwilling to do something so easy and simple because he asked it of you it shows that you simply aren't relationship material.

We like our girl to look good to us and I'd have to say girls seem to like us to think they look good. So we have that in common.
