i didn't say that. but it would seem like he's trying way too hard imo. the first date should be casual and low key because it's a chance to know that person
it is a nice gesture, but you're coming on too strong and therefore would make it awkward. and plus, where would I put it assuming we're meeting somewhere
And you're going to say that a first date is about getting to know each others personalities, well what if this is part of his personality? He likes giving people things
Ahhh... there it is. you assume it's someone you hardly know. I assume it's someone you would know. So what if you knew the guy a little bit and he did this. would that still be too much?
I think the rest of them are not really imagining how things are, they are imagining some guy they are really really into bringing them a flower and how they'd feel happy about it. If she's already head over heels for you, you could do anything.
Odds are you are still trying to win her over, and most girls would find it _odd_ ... like you're a little desperate, and go on one date a year. When you're single, date multiple women till one outshines the rest.
I've never dated a guy that I've known or that I was friends with. The guys I've dated are usually virtual strangers. But I suppose if it was a friend or something I already knew that I wanted to be with, I would like the flower :)
I don't think its awkward tbh, I think it'd be awkward if I wasn't fully comfortable in giving one to a girl in the first place. And it's just a single flower, it's not like I went out and got her a whole bunch with a card and chocolates lol

I'd be pleased orchids are beautiful!
sweet, but overkill for the first date
So you would not want a 2nd date if a guy did this for you?

lol way to take a nice gesture and make it sound bad.
Is there any way we can please you women?
I'm just old fashioned, modern girls might not like it as much lol
it is a nice gesture, but you're coming on too strong and therefore would make it awkward. and plus, where would I put it assuming we're meeting somewhere
Impossible to please
lol no, not impossible. bring it on the second date by all means. but not the first!
agree on the overkill ;-)
All right let me ask you. Why is it awkward? Why is it too strong?
because it's the very first date! this is the date where you talk. you don't do gifts
Why don't you do gifts?
And you're going to say that a first date is about getting to know each others personalities, well what if this is part of his personality? He likes giving people things
but it's too much
Why is it too much? lol there's no logic to it at all.
there is logic lol. think about it this way...who do you give gifts to? people you care about. people you love. not a stranger you just met
Ahhh... there it is. you assume it's someone you hardly know. I assume it's someone you would know. So what if you knew the guy a little bit and he did this. would that still be too much?

but not from a stranger! lol

but a single flower is a lot more personal than a dozen
i'd think he must be compensating for something.
It's adorable. :)
