I started my first job ever at a daycare and it's been about 2 1/2 weeks. I told myself when I was looking for jobs that I wouldn't work with children (I hate kids) and was mainly looking for jobs involving animals or library work. My sister is the manager at the daycare and offered me the job at her daycare for starting at 13/h. I think you know where this is going. Easy job. No interview required. And fucking surprised surprised I fucking hate it. Turns out starting pay is 12.5/h. Okay fine nothing I can do about it now. I have to get up at 4am every day but the weekend to take the bus for an hour and half. I knew this before signing up (due to my sleep schedule at the time I didn't care, fucking moron I am đ¤Śđžââď¸). The plus side is that its only til 8:30am and I get home around 11am to be with my doggos. I really wanna quit and look for a different job, possibly one that's closer and with no one I'm related to. Then again I've only been here for 2 1/2 weeks and I'm afraid it'll will look bad on my resumĂŠ if I quit so soon. Should I just suck it up and stick it out?
If you quit, make sure to make yourself look good with the next interview:
something like: "I'm just an assertive person who's self-aware of what I like and dislike, but I'm flexible enough to give new things a try. I gave this job 2 weeks/ x amount of my time to try, and knew it wasn't a good fit for me.
They could ask why and you could respond with appealing or logical reasons, or say "it was a gut feeling. I had a feel for that type of environment and recognized it wasn't for me."
This is if you think it's necessary to your overall health or your state of mind.
Otherwise, try a year (that's like a healthy minimum), and give two weeks' notice when leaving.
I hope you find one you actually enjoy, by the way. It's a process. Also, ask questionsss because that's the time to see if the job and the members would be a great fit for YOU.
I don't think it's bad to quit a specific job, but making it a tradition is not the best... lol
All the best to you, though!
