My best guy friend rubbed my feet. What were his intentions?

So my best friend (who's a guy) texted me, asking if I wanted to go on a walk last evening. I told him no, that I was still sore from working out the day before, & that I had no boyfriend to rub my back or feet so I'm dealing with it. Then he told me to come over, which I did. We watched TV. I told him I was sore, & he said, "You need me to give you a back rub?" I said it was okay. Then later I put my feet on his lap, & then he started rubbing lotion on my feet. I asked him why he did that, & he said, "Well, you were hurting." Then I told him to punch my back because my muscles are pretty good in my back, but then he started karate chopping it a little bit. Since he was already doing that, I told him he could squeeze my shoulders, which he did for a few seconds.

I kind of feel at odds with it. He's like a brother to me, & I'm not attracted to him in that way. But why did he rub my feet?

You told him your back and feet were hurting and you also told him you had no boyfriend to massage your back or feet.
So how about just giving this guy the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was just being nice. And if you put your feet in his lap, then he probably thought he was doing you an honest favor.
I don't get it - why are you suspicious of his intentions, based on what you said to him?
