When you were born, how old was your father?

As I've mentioned before, my father was much older than my mother; he was 66 when I was born.

30 told my mom he was 40 ad ad was 40 at the time. Stayed for like 3 years left came back when I was 17 to patch things up after my mom got married. They are good friends tho but no one seems to acknowledge te fact that he left in the first was because he hit me in the head with one of his metal tools when I was 4 and now I have permanent dent in my skull and a scar on my chin when he hit me in the face. But who cares anyways as long as they good.

Both were 39, too old in my opinion. They had a lot of money by that point but not much time and energy for me. They're also very sickly right now because of their age. They had my brothers at 25/26 (1 year apart).

@shaysh87 FYI... several of my paternl+maternal ancestors and relatives (going out to 2nd cousins) have had healthy children when the father was in his 50s, 60s or even 70s. There have been some abnormalities when the mother was over 40.

@shaysh87 I believe the difference between male and female and their effects on age is that male sperm is manufactured in the male body as it is needed, so that the sperm is always "fresh", whereas, female ova (eggs) are manufactured in the female body during puberty and then used as needed (she doesn't make more), so as the woman ages, her eggs also age, and may become "stale"

Healthy children are not as obvious as it seems. Kids born to older fathers tend to be more prone to mental illnesses later in life and tend to be more prone to health issues throughout life. Take a look at donald trump's last son , Barron, who has autism. Donald had him at 55 while his wife , Melania was 35. Compare Barron who is oddly tall, autistic, has a weird gate to his 3 older children who are fine and healthy.

Children born to fathers over the age of 45 are at greater risk of developing psychiatric problems and more likely to struggle at school, according to the findings of a large-scale study.

The research found that children with older fathers were more often diagnosed with disorders such as autism, psychosis, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. They also reported more drug abuse and suicide attempts, researchers said.

The Malaysian Mental Health Survey (MMHS) results, which were published online in March 2011, for instance, revealed that people with older parents as well as those whose fathers were at least 11 years older than their mothers, were at increased risk for certain mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and phobias. Offspring whose fathers were 19 or younger when the child was born had just a 9 percent prevalence of mental health disorders. Regardless of paternal age, however, if the father was 11 years or older than the mother, that rate jumped to 24 percent. The greatest risk of mental health disorders—42 percent—was seen in the children of fathers aged 50 and older, with wives at least 11 years younger than their husbands.
