When you were born, how old was your mother?

My mother was 32, almost 33, when I was born.

Well, I guess I'll be the one with the oldest mother for this question for a while.

My mother was 45 when I was born. Fast and easy labour, no problems whatsoever.

(Dodged a really great bullet as I was born in the morning and, at the time, the maternity was causing infants cerebral palsy, deaths, and mother's got cracked ribs, wrongly induced labors and complications around the time the afternoon shift changed and doctors wanted to split... Read that in a reporter's book in my thirties, really shook me up)

I had an older brother 5 years older that died at 16, my sister is 19 years older than me, my middle brother 21 years older and my eldest brother 22 years older.

my mother was 23 almost 24 when she had me and I was the youngest of 3 children my parents had. my brother is 3 years older then me and my sister is 4 years older then me. meaning my parents had their first child together in their late teens/early 20s back in the early 1980s.

I was her first born child and she was 28 when I popped out. She originally told me that she didn’t want to start having kids until she’s at least 30 but my dad had other plans and immediately got to work after they got married lol

37 when my mother had me. 40 when she had my brother. We both are now 27 and 24.

Having kids late was the number 1 thing that she regrets. Lots of consequences for parents having kids late in life.

When you're 53 and your kid is still 12-13 years old. You may not have the energy to keep up with the stress demands of parenting. That is also the age where most folks are excited thinking about retirement.

And besides that, most people really aren't looking forward to working beyond retirement age to pay for their children's college education. I would have to agree because by the tie I'm 60, I want to be finished supporting my children and enjoy my retirement years. Nowadays there are 59 yr olds borrowing loans from banks in order to pay for their children's college education. HOW FUN!

The quality of children that you can birth also deteriorates as you age.

My parents spent many years lamenting how all their peers have kids that are all grown or even already have grandkids. BUT, they're growing old and yet their kids are still not grown. For me, I learned a big lesson from my parents. I wouldn't be interested in having kids beyond the age of 35.

Yeah, that's correct. My mum was 36, dad was 37 when I was born. I was also the only child so growing up was really different to how my friends had it. I kinda felt distant to my parents and sometimes felt I didn't have people to talk to as family. Now I feel that my parents get tired easily, and when most people my age talk about moving with their partner after marriage, I feel that my time to just enjoy life is limited because I need to take care of my parents early on- this is also because I'm their only child. When I'm 34, my parents are 69, 70 so I need to take care of them and can't just move to a different state with my partner after that point.

I wanted to hear if anyone else had that problem, so thanks for sharing your perspective on this. I definitely do not recommend having kids late (i. e 35 or 36 would be the latest), personally, having an only child beyond this point would not be the best.

I am the first born and my mother was 21 so I felt like I was really old when I passed 21 and was still childless. I would like to have one before 30 but depends when I find the right person.
