Is it ok to let go of this hatred towards my ex boyfriend?

Anonymous

Obviously he'll never be welcome back in my life (I've blocked him myself and I'm currently in another relationship) but I'm realizing holding into that hatred was killing me. I'm actually atheist but I don't think letting go of the anger has anything to do with god or religion. I just want to be at peace with myself, even if he was a true real life narcissistic-sociopath.

Just an hour ago my mom brought the topic about him, how he scammed me with money, used me for years and her forever hatred, which is understandable. She's reacting like any parent would if someone hurts their child. For the first time, I didn't have it to continue with the hatred. I told her to drop the topic and focus on the present, on what we have now, etc.

If he needed to also use me for money, well I hope that money was useful for something but I doubt it. From this day on, I've decided to put this at rest and stop with this hatred. I'm not angry anymore. I want to be happy in life, continue focusing on my new relationship and not become bitter nor carry grudges.
