Was my mom being passive aggressive?

1. My mom told my boyfriend that I was nosy because we were all eating together and she mentioned a nickname and I asked her “who William” she apparently was talking to my dad privately even though we were all together at the table and she was speaking at a normal voice. I thought that one was okay. 2. I was just showing my brother some funny pictures and my boyfriend jokingly said that I was harassing my brother and my mom said “she’s the one that starts problems and then acts like a victim” she said that while laughing. I got upset and asked her why she was being passive aggressive. Was i overreacting? I just felt like she was purposely telling my boyfriend bad things about me because not once have I heard her say anything positive about me to him. This is probably random but yesterday I got locked inside the bathroom and my mom said that I always did things like that, my brother was laughing at me and saying that I always messed everything up, etc. and that made me feel bad I didn’t intentionally get locked inside the bathroom.

She might be jealous you have a boyfriend you could one day marry while she had problems in her marriage with her husband. My mom was extremely jealous of me when I was growing up and always tried to sabotage my life. I also know some people try to make other people unhappy because they are unhappy and view happy people as their emotional rival.

Do you always put up with verbal abuse from your mother? It seems like she is jealous of you for some reason so she is trying to make you look bad in front of your boyfriend.

my first impression of your mom is that she was trying to draw your boyfriend into family moments but in a way that landed really flat.

She was laughing everytime she made a comment like that but I just felt like the second comment was passive aggressive that was when I felt like she might have been trying to make me look bad.
