My late mom would have been going on age 78 on Feb 21, 2023 and my Dad just was placed in a nursing home, and he is age 81 going on age 82 this coming May 7th 2023. It's sad because my mom passed away way too young,

Both my parents passed away a long time ago. My mother, born in 1923, would've been exactly 100 years old by now, but she died in 1958. My father would have had about the same age now, being born somewhere in the twinties and dying in the nineties.

My father passed away at age 63 in March 2020; he'd have been 82 today and would have turned 83 in 3 weeks.

Just keep your expectations realistic too though. A lot of men in their 20s are really just getting their careers started so it does take time earn decent money, to buy a property instead of renting.

@DizzyDesii When I was at UCLA in the late 60s, I remember people saying "Don't trust anyone over 30." None of those people will ever see anything close to 30 again. You may prefer young men now, but we all age (hopefully). You'll look back at things you say today and laugh.

The only thing that makes my dating pool “so narrow” is that a lot of 20 year olds aren't looking to be parents until they’re in their 30s and 40s. Once im in my 30s, my dating pool will be more wide because i won't want to give birth by then and will have more options. Since im considering in vitro and may become a single mom, there's the risk of an even smaller dating pool, but it doesn't matter to me much. I’d cherish parenthood over a relationship anyways
@DizzyDesii It makes sense to make the decisions you believe are best for you. As you can see on this site, you'll never please everyone. You may not be glad being whatever age you are, but the alternatives will never be better (death or older). You're at an awkward stage, as girls generally resolve adolescence about age 24, while guys don't reach that till about age 28. Girls tend to start puberty earlier and resolve adolescence earlier. Due to that differential, you may want to focus on guys 4 years older than you, if you're looking to get impregnated. Once you're in your 30s, that differential will no longer be an issue.

It sounds like being a mom is more important to you than being a partner, so you're taking care of your needs. Just understand the complications of finding a partner with a young child (or any children for some guys). Whatever choices you make, I hope they lead you to happiness and fulfillment. Being a parent is a wonderful experience. It can be challenging at times, but overall it is wonderful. Just do your best to educate yourself upfront rather than seeking answers only when problems arise.
