Are men better friends?

Question

Maybe I am biased, and I can't really describe all of the reasons I feel this way. But overall I just feel like having female friends is "work" and it's just easier to be friends with men.

Am I the only guy that feels this way? I feel like most of my guy friends are like this. It's not that I won't be friends with a woman, it just doesn't usually happen, I'm not gonna go out of my way.

I could probably describe more reasons, but trying to keep this short.

Ladies? Do you think men make better friends, or is it just men that feel this way?

I actually don’t have guy friends. Reason being is because I found that a lot of men were just trying to be friends with me at one point to try to get closer and hoping they can either smash or date me. One thing about me is I am a very loyal friend , so I think it would be also hard to explain to a future boyfriend about having a male friend because I do go out of my way for all of my friends. I prefer having men around only to potentially date. Less drama

iam a women 33 i had loads of guy friends and girl ones hung out with them both when my ex brought his guy friends up to his house ad sit with him and them all and have a buzz and ma ex before this one brought his pals up to nd ad have a buzz wae him and his guy friends kinda takes your mind off the girly thing we all need to get on so fk it nd we all need diffrent serroundings sometimes aswel dont we

In my experience no. I've always had about 50/50 guy and gal friends, but often find easier to be around the women. They tend to be more flexible and relaxed compared to the men I've been friends with. And more talk fr not just light or jokes. Also more dependable loyal, & better communicate. Maybe I've just not been close to many men tho. It's definitely harder to get close to men friends, least for me it is.

I find that there are just different dynamics. With guy friends, I have a lot more wild adventures and do fun stuff with them that I'm also into. With girls, the quality of meaningful conversation seems better, like talking about thoughts and feelings etc that would just be awkward with my guy friends. The relationships are different, and I can't really say if one is better than the other.

Depends. My old male coworkers would have the worst drama compared to girls. I’m sure my name is being dragged through the mud rn as to why I left. I didn’t leave because of the job, I left because the company basically broke a code of conduct and told me there was nothing they can do.

I never had any guy friends up until the last year or so (late 2021 - 2022, and now 2023). I don't regret meeting more guys however! Guy friends offer different things from girl friends. For example, I have been hard pressed to find girl friends that don't engage in a lot of gossip, backstabbing, and forming cliches based on shallow societal values. The guy friends I have are very inclusive and relaxed in comparison however. They don't associate appearance and aesthetic taste with status quite so much. These things aren't black and white and I've met guys that are very cynical and judgmental people. I have also have girl friends who don't adhere to stupid high school stereotypes. However, what individuals offer in friendships differ depending on what gender stereotypes they have adhered to over their lifetime, and the influences of society over their preferences, and personality. Sorry that this answer was so longwinded!

You might just feel this way because you’re a guy and therefore relate more to guys. I know that’s how I feel about being friends with women. I can relate to women more then I can relate to men and my friendship with guys takes more work then my friendship with girls.

Men and guys I feel like are not catty, talkative about pointless crap. Guys/men may be less empathetic to others about feelings and what not. I think women/girls are better planners to do things with their girlfriends. But I think guys and men can get over issues and not have some odd conflict that goes unresolved. Guys could get in a fight playing sports, but hug it days later and be cool with each other.

My two best friends are female, but that might be an anomaly since we've all known each other since we were 4 or 5 and are more like siblings. My newer friends definitely tend to be male.

Not in my experience. Don't expect any loyalty whatsoever. Men are simply offensive when caught in their betrayal whereas women try to cover their tracks. I sound like some bitter skank! "He lied to me."

It depends on the person, but I tend to prefer male company more in general. Guys are more chill, better sense of humor, less drama, more honest and real.

Most of my friends have been girls but I have mixed feelings about it. They've been some of the best friends and some of the worst friends I've had. On the other hand, I've only had a few guy friends. None of these friendships lasted as long, but not because we had any problems. However I feel like girls are easier to become friends with than guys, at least for me it's been that way.

Men's friendships are based on how much fun you can have together. Women's friendships are based on what resources they can extract from you. So yes men make better freinds
