Why is guy friend acting this way?

Me and a guy I know grown close always had soft spot for each other but got partners. I found out my step dad got terminal cancer, he started chatting to him to get help setting up buisness. Step dad invited him London to his birthday as get on well. He accepted etc but his girlfriend don’t like me as suspected stuff gone on in past. So he tried it on 4 times with me before then always try’s to pretend didn’t happen or say was horny. So bearing in mind I am very down as my step dad dying. He said today to me “ don’t get expectations at weekend away” I was angry and shocked I said why say that. As my boyfriend can’t go but all my family there. His girlfriend don’t even know he going or even talks to me way he does or lunches with me. Yet he going away and says that to me? I am so confused I want our friendship to be good but he anxious round me recently, but insists he fine. Yet I am going through so much and says that to me. Why? What does he think?

To add on he speaks every day asking how step dad is asking how I am etc but seems anxious round me, yet others hugging etc yet me never does. I mention this to him and makes him worse, yet we a lot closer. I don’t get his behaviour. So I ignore him then he asks why. Then asks me to lunch discuss helping me with stuff and now this. My step dad very unwell he knows this but says what he did very strange.
