How and When did you meet your Best Friend?

Question

I  heard  about my buddy in Sixth Grade, but we didn't meet and become best friends until Seventh Grade. Dan was a  problem child  from an early age. I was a dorky small kid who needed to  toughen up . We were in Shop Class when we met. I was friends with another kid named Rob, who like all the other kids had warned me to stay away from Dan. Dan and Rob were at another desk within ear shot when they got into an argument over the assignment. Rob popped off an  insult  or two and Dan took the  metal stool  he was sitting on and  chucked it  with  full force  right past Rob's head. Causing the shop teacher to finally look up and take notice. The Teacher asked "We have a problem here, Gents?" The rest of the class, pointed to Dan as the issue. While I was trying to defend Dan and trying to explain what really happened, Dan shouted something to the effect of "Are you Deaf  AND Blind  you old  Bastard! " Which got Dan dismissed to the office. I ran into Dan again after school at the local K-Mart. Where I told him I kept trying to explain it to the adults but they wouldn't listen. (They only saw the temper and not the instigation) Dan said " Fuck'em! ," thanked me and we've been best friends ever since. What about you?

I was 18? I had just started college. I met both of my best friends around the same time and we became an inseparable trio for five years until the one moved away. We still video call and we have been close friends for 13yrs now. I met Friend A in my Intro to Technology class (silly class we were all forced to take, she was the only good thing that came out of it lol). We were both introverts and ended up sitting next to each other, got partnered up, and a week later I saw her playing the Sims on her laptop. The rest was history. The other one, Friend B, took everyone’s ID pictures so I technically met her first. She has a habit of singling out the introverts and forcing her friendship onto them. She invited me to sit with her and her friends on the lawn for lunch one day, didn’t actually talk just sat in the same group, and she ended up being in my art class where she kept forcing conversation lol. I ended up introducing the two of them and we haven’t escaped each other since. It is funny because I am considered the most outgoing in the group since I can easily talk to people in general now by both of them (customer service jobs helped), but I still think it is Friend B because she is can’t stand sitting in silence and has more friends that she interacts with regularly

I met my bestie nearly 15 years ago.

I had just moved to a new primary school and I was really nervous and shy. I remember arriving to my new class and was told to sit at this table. I didn’t really talk to anyone at all due to shyness. But as a kid I was obsessed with stationary, especially erasers! I used to collect erasers and had all kinds of them.

There was this girl sat next to me who saw one of my erasers and complimented it. Because I had many, I told her she could have it. It was a dolphin eraser that goes on top of your pencil. Since then we had become best friends.

She’s truly the only friend who has stuck by me through everything and the one friend I see as a Constant in my life and growing old. We met as goofy little kids complete polar opposites of one another (still are) and now I’ve grown to see her become a mother!

1971. I was 16 years old. It was my first day on the college campus, and first full day 350 miles away from home. I was participating in fraternity rush and Ken was not only very friendly towards me, but he also looked exactly like me. I joined his fraternity and he adopted me as his "little brother." We are still best friends, talk on the phone every week, and he will be the best man at my wedding next April.

I was a year ahead of her while we were both getting our theater credits in college. We were working set building together, and I was talking with a bunch of familiar faces I had known from last year. She came over to introduce herself and as we talked we found out we were in the same major and had a lot of interests in common. She says the reason she came over was bc I had purple hair at the time and her thought process was, “Purple hair. Really cool. Must talk to her and maybe also become cool.” And that she “bugged me” into being her friend, which I would say is the opposite because I made her watch my favorite shows that she hadn’t seen yet and we’ve been hanging out ever since lol

I met my best friend in college when I was a sophomore. It's funny because I didn't think highly of her when I first encountered her. I thought she was a show off Freshmen girl (turns out she wasn't a freshmen or a show off). I prejudged her which was wrong and we soon officially met through a mutual friend. We bonded over being virgins (well I thought she was a virgin at the time). We were in the same dorm hall so we would see each other through passing a lot and always speak and talk but it was when we finally started partying together when we really hit it off.

We've been through a lot together. When we got in a car accident together and survived that's when I knew we would be best friends for a lifetime. It made us significantly closer. I don't know what I would do without her and vice versa.

I met my best friend in 7th grade through a mutual friend and even before we really got to know each other we kind of knew each other because we had a class together but we never really got the chance to have a real conversation anyway fast forward a little one day we were outside after lunch and I found out that we had a ton of the same interests and that's when I knew we were going to be good friends anyway fast forward again to a few months into our first year of high school he texted me after school was over for the day and he said that he liked me and I was flattered but I just wasn't interested in him that way so I told him I liked him but not in that way and I'd rather just continue being friends and he was okay with that and we're still best friends to this day

I don't know if anybody considers me their best friend but my closest friends are my cousin and my child hood friend that I send text messages to every week and sometimes get invitations to hang out with too. I'm confident and knowledgeable and have no difficulty making friends but I try not to have too many friends cause friends cost time and money.
