Do you ever meet people who's life is so bad you don't know how to comfort them?

I know someone she lives in the same place as me who was trafficked and forced into prostitution at 18 years old. She has been rescued now but she's still suffering a lot mentally. She has bpd she gained a lot of weight she has psychosis when she can't handle the reality of her life anymore. She tries to escape a lot in different ways. Like she uses her old pictures to talk to men online and found a guy who's really into her and she uses that to cope. She's had to go to the clinic a few times.

I try to be positive and be there for her encourage her that she can get better mentally it will just take time, but atm it seems very difficult. She's a nice person but she is suffering a lot inside.

I'll just try and be a friend.

OMG- that explains a lot! I just had an epiphany!!
Maybe the girls that seem like they're "playing games" with you are actually using old photos! So they don't want to meet up because they're scared that you won't like their current physical appearance! 🤯

Yes that's exactly what happened to her. The guy came up from italy to switzerland 3 times and everytime she had to make an excuse why she couldn't meet him. It was a whole crazy drama. Eventually she came clean to him because I told her to. And they broke up and got back together like 5 times and they're still talking I don't know I think the guy has issues too. He seems way too tolerant of all the things she did. She did look good in the past except for the lip fillers she had but otherwise she was attractive. So she's trying to live in the past before most of the bad things happened to her. And feeling validated and desireable etc. I told her she was just escaping and she won't get anywhere in her life like that and now she's trying to actually take on the reality and all the trauma. I hope she can do it. She seems quite composed and strong on the outside like if you meet her in a normal conversation you'd think she's quite mature and has her shit together but yeah she has a lot to deal with. I wish her all the best for the future I hope she can rcover mentally even if it takes a long time I hope she'll find some peace in some way.
