I would be very upset. I do not like seeing people with piercing/tattoos. I don't make this public knowledge so if my partner showed up with either it would be bad.

While I agree that she should have notified you up front you *also* have a responsibility to let your preferences be known to your partner at least.
If you haven't you can't really be angry with her.
I'd be annoyed with her not talking with me first.

And if she did talk with me and knew my preferences and still did this I'd probably be disappointed, and perhaps a bit hurt that she didn't respect my feelings in the matter.
But that's about it I think.
