It means what you're hoping it means. That connection you feel and when you are noticing little things (like this)... you're pretty safe to listen to you 'gut instinct' it'll usually be right. Unless you're the cocky-type. And I already can see you aren't.
So he clearly has some sort of romantic feelings for you. But, if he's gotten back with his ex, and his buddy told you to leave him alone because of it...
First, the fact that the friend said that to you is some very clear evidence that the guy has romantic feelings for you. Why would his buddy worry about you, if there was nothing there?
Second, the fact that both the guy you like, as well as at least one of his male friends seem to actually be concerned with doing right by the ex (now girlfriend) in terms of: They're both actively making a point to keep your crush from being unfaithful to his commitment to his current girlfriend.
I realize that might not seem like a good thing for you at first. But it really kinda is. It shows that... in the future, were you two to get together... you can be confident he would make (at least) an effort to be faithful to you. In other words, commitments matter to him. He might be committed to you at some future time. Plus it's rare. Especially to have the male friend get involved (unless he's friends with the girlfriend as well). Overall though, it's a sign that they're more solid that most guys.
But there's a flipside.
Ok, so you have feelings for him. He has feelings for you... he just isn't able to act on them because he's got a girlfriend. It's his fidelity holding him back, not a lack of feelings for you.
That is a VERY precarious situation. He's doing his best to act right... but at the same time... if he's spending time with you... even trying to act right... then you still have all of the tension, the looks, the little things like this waist grab... where you're both "feeling it"... that electricity... you know what I mean.
Those situations are dangerous for someone intending to be loyal to someone else... who isn't there. It can be like playing Russian roulette every time you hang out... is the bullet gonna fire this time... or the next time... or the time after that...
It's not that I'm saying he WILL cheat... I'm saying it's a situation that, if he's in it time after time, after time, after time,... I don't trust anybody to stay faithful under such circumstances indefinitely.
So... the hard part...
Now, aside from the utter wrongness of cheating generally. If he were to cheat on his girlfriend with you... then it's a matter of... ok... so if you get together in the future... I'd be worried he'd cheat on that relationship too. He's obviously got the intention of being faithful. He's going to need your help though. You're going to have to do your best to make sure you "act right" even more than you are.
You need to do your best to NOT be as flirtatious as you'd like to be. There's a very easy way to know whether you're acting appropriately with him. If you couldn't be how you're being or do what you're doing with this guy if his girlfriend were in the same room with you... you're not acting appropriately.
So yep. He likes you. You can either:
1.) Do something about it (making him a cheater, you a horrible person, and the cheated-on girl might be a problem for you too). If you do, then you get the guy you like... but you'll always have to worry he's being unfaithful
.2) Back off and act appropriately, really watch yourself. Your goal is essential to wait-out this current girl in hopes of getting together in the future... and you know you'd be getting a guy who honors his commitments.
I'm sorry I don't have a 3rd option... and I realize both 1 and 2 suck. Sorry.
