I can't tell if he's flirting or just being friendly. Please help?

So my ex and I have been broken up five years. We have a kid together and we just started mending things this past year. I was admittedly really cold in the beginning and kept him a long distance away from me.

He kept bringing up old memories, making me laugh, etc. Now I'm comfortable and it feels HARDER to tell if he's flirting. He definitely toned everything down with my cold attitude, and more months ago when I admitted I started feeling for him again.

Funny note, after I told him he said something along the lines of, "if you're looking to patch things up" but I cut him off with a loud no and he said he was glad we were on the same page..

We still share really subtle moments like smiles, he tilts his head at me, our eye contact sparks me every time (and I THINK it does him too).

Two days ago he hit a curb pulling up to my driveway and then texted me later saying he got distracted by my shorts and the said just kidding. Then went on to talk about summer, his tatas, and basically lack of sex life'.

Today my boss to me to a work function and he said maybe he likes me. I can't tell if this guy is jealous, still likes me, wants to be friends with benefits, wants to be friends, etc.

If you re-read what I said, I actually said in the beginning I was cold and distant for personal reasons and tried to keep things as businesslike as possible. I'm not just going to jump around him as if he and I hadn't been completely out of each other's lives for five years?

The trust rebuilt with time and now that he has my trust back my feelings have changed? Is that not acceptable or something in today's times?

It's acceptable to each individual in each individual situation, personal preference.
Was your breakup amicable? Rough?

Sort of rough. I had PPD and we were young. It was a lot for him to deal with and he wandered. Then he was out of the picture for those five years completely for personal reasons I don't have the liberty to go over.

But when we reconnected last year and started to smooth things over, he acted boisterous and like we were still in a relationship almost. Brought up a lot of memories I wasn't ready to deal with. Plus I didn't want to get back together just to have things end and fuck up our son. He came on really strong in the beginning.

I even told him I needed him to chill out because I couldn't handle all of it and he did - which I appreciate. That was a few months ago and we've gotten to a friendly place and I get to see the man he is now and my feelings are different.
