What if a girl who has chances with you tells you:"I want you"?

Assume you have some subconscious feelings towards a girl you appreciate in general, that you didn't fully process and you don't crush on her at all but just, you are friends but she has good chances with you.
She blasts you out of nowhere requesting your attention to tell you something serious, and goes with a:"[Name], I want you".
How does that sound? Would you think she means sex or that she wants you as a whole, as a partner?
Does that put you off, scare you away? Or makes your heart suddenly beat and overheat?

I plan to tell this to a guy but I never seen a woman saying "I want you" to a guy.

If a girl/woman said to me she wants me I'd probably take it as sexual. If you're wanting more than just physical, maybe just tell him how much you like him and you'd like to be more than friends and ask how he feels about that.

I wanted to say "I want you" because I want to be very direct, without trips etc, and I would like to show that I know that I "want" something with him, not just "like" and then leaving the turn to him. I want to look like I know what I'm saying and I'm confident about wanting him (as a partner).
