I’ve been working in a retail store part time for a year. I’ve notice some “out of the norm” behaviors from a coworker of mine for several months, but I’m still really confused. From the time I met her, she asked me a lot of questions about myself. She always initiates the conversation, though our conversations are very short. She always calls me by her nickname for me: “Johnnybean”. In a shift, she would say hi to me 10-15 times. At one point, she was smelling me and said I smelled nice. I remember one shift, she randomly pokes my hand and walked away. Later on, she would ask for my hand because she wanted to shake my hand randomly. But the biggest thing is that every time we meet at work, she would pinch my cheeks and make a cute facial gesture, sometimes lightly, sometimes hard. She has been touching my face at least once every time we work together. I think I once heard her say to a manager “I think I’m scaring him” but again I’m not entirely certain. I caught her staring at me once.
My judgement on this is really bad because the last girl I really liked stood me up for 4 hours and when I confessed my feelings, she spread false rumors about me. I watched her kiss someone else twice and I couldn’t do anything about it. I’m still healing and having difficulties. I don’t want to get hurt again, so I keep my distance. I really don’t think there’s anything between me and my coworker because I think she’s just being nice, but again, this could just be me doubting myself and have low self-esteem. I’m open to explaining more about the situation. Any advice would be amazing! Thank you so much!
