I don’t get this theory of having a good sense of humor. Because at any given time, there’s someone who is more of a goofball or more witty than you are or watched more comedy shows than you.

I think it's more about not being dry and serious AF all the time. Just to be able to brighten the mood. Try not to see humor as a competition, but as a way to grease the wheels of social interaction. Try to see it as something shared. If you say something funny, you share a good laugh with others. And vice versa. It's all about figuring out what you personally find funny and then enjoying that.
