I've had that happen to my quite a number of times (I seriously dislike clubs and bars so I sometimes wonder if girls would also approach me there ...but never had the interest to find out).
I don't find you girls to be creepy at all; and almost all of the time I'm approached in my college with a line that's "Hey did we used to be together in math?", often by girls that I've never seen before and didn't even see then coming up to me and standing next to me. So it's more often that I'm surprised when I heard someone talking right next to me and directly asking me a question.
Sadly thought it's more often than not girls I would always friend zone; I recall at the moment only one girl whom I would have never friend zoned if she hadn't started her approach with an insult (she probably meant it as a joke) but I was at my college library and she walked up to me and asked "Hi, do you live here?" - she was sexy as he++, but became one of the girls I didn't have all that much contact with through txt or phone calls, let alone meeting her somewhere
Unfortunately, yes, a girl you don't know will usually be considered to be trouble. It's still not the norm for girls to approach us..so only weird girls generally will do that. So until we get to know someone, most guys will assume she is somehow a problem child...!
I wish it wasn't like that, but..
Unless they're European or Asian girls, of course, who don't think it's weird to approach guys they like.
I doubt they will think you're a creep. Just go for it.

Not at all. A lot of guys will open to talking to new people. Remember, they're in the same position as you. New classes. New people. So a great opportunity to chat with people.
Nope. I find it very easy to talk to women, and don't have a problem with it so long as they behave themselves.
