This thing is an avocado tenderness checker. You place the avocado inside the lit circle and the screen tells you if the avocado is ripe for you to buy it. Basically, it checks how hard the avocado is.

I've already seen the answer and I'm disappointed. It seems like a waste of money, especially since it only works with avocados. . The sales people were laying it on heavy with that pitch.

At first I thought it was a vision system, which would have been way cooler. But maybe I'm biased because I used to work with vision systems for food products. You could even look through those avocados to check for a pit. Of course avocados aren't pitted, but it works with peaches, cherries, olives, etc.
