Not preferences either. These should be requirements only. I'm too tired to think of mine... But I'd like to know yours... What are your standards that a guy or girl must have?

It starts off with some sort of connection; a bond. A bond can't be created nor maintained with a flakey person.

Around my height or taller, not too skinny, either average or bigger, I like meat not all bones on a man.

At least ok-looking to me because in my case, I found the more guys makes themselves pretty to look for validation from the outside world, the more insecurities and strain he puts on the relationship. Sure, you want to look good for yourself, but once you surpass that and even start acting out to look for attention (from being obnoxious to criticizing others in public to lying/cheating), I don't have the patience to look after what appears to behave as an infant.

Not so much intelligent (gets high grades but won't remember or talk about anything they have learned), but intellectual (wise) . I like someone who thinks outside the box; opinionated (doesn't go along with the crowd, and is comfortable admitting when they don't agree with me) and open-minded enough to talk about any topic without trying to change my mind or change the subject.

Maturity. Decent enough to accept my flaws, and doesn't put the blame on others for why things go wrong. Can look at himself, figure out what went wrong inside of him, and will take the necessary steps to correct it.

Someone who is polite (can say the words: thank you, please, I'm sorry, excuse me) because it shows a little respect. I don't like a person who's pride is so high they keep everyone at a distance because of their irrational behavior. People's who pride is high is deeply hurt, and disregards others who are good to them because they are still holding on to their past.

Not so much sense of humor 'cause I think everyone can make someone laugh. It's not an art, it's just a given whether you tell a joke you heard somewhere or say something in a funny voice. Bid deal! I appreciate seriousness. Someone who won't laugh at inappropriate times, and can obtain a serious conversation with all jokes aside. Can be silly sometimes (in private, but can act his age (in public).

Religious/spiritual. Someone who can stand by me, take my religion under consideration with no arguments and no judgements, and follows His teaching or is open to believing in Him.

okay, none of them are set in stone... but my preferences are, SMART, I love a man that is full of fun facts, random sciency things... maybe a guy that can/will take the time to explain something really cool about space, the human body or evolution. VERY cool. I like a guy that can talk too! That's not a requirement per se, but... pretty much... haha. I'd like to pretend I wasn't that picky, but I think I am.

Also, he must be into reading. Just a bit. Movie watching. I love a man that can ski too. If he doesn't already, he HAS to be willing to learn.

I don't like skinny men. I don't want to date a stick. I like a man with nice arms and a nice back, but he's gotta have a little bit of a tummy. It's just so much more comfortable. Not an unhealthy amount of tummy, but just a little one?

He has to also be polite, well mannered and a hard worker. These are relative to some people, but polite is BIG on my list. Well mannered, absolutely. He has to know that he's supposed to use a napkin at a restaurant. I'd like if he occasionally opened the door for me too.

Religiously? I'd prefer catholic, but agnostic is okay too. No atheists. I'm religious, but always open to otheres.

In terms of looks, taller (not hard, I'm 5'2") anndd attractive in my eyes! My friends say I have bad taste when it comes to looks, but when a guy is kind and sweet, he can be SO much more attractive. Doesn't have to be a model guy. Nerdy, fun, adventurous, personality before looks in my opinion! :)

Physically Attractive (Don't need perfection here, far from it)

Good sense of humor (Particularly morbid)

Somewhat abusive (In a verbal, cocky manner - too nice is just weird)

Shorter than me or same height

Around my age of 3 years younger or 1 year older (I'm sure this range will widen with age)

Local (Long distance relationships just don't work)

Drug-Free (Cigarettes, Alcohol, and Weed not included unless they let it dominate their life. I'd PREFER no cigarettes and no weed since I've never smoked either and yes to alcohol because I do like to go out occasionally but only mandatory part is no major illicit drugs.)

Some people tell me my standards are too high, I argue that they are specific. I honestly don't believe I ask for much since none of the categories needs to excel dramatically. If they do, well that's just a plus, but missing one of them just is a complete turn off. It's not really an issue since I always have women swarming around me to take my pick from, but I remain single most of the time. I prefer to find a girl that meets all my standards and puts up a bit of a challenge. If it's just all laid out for me from the beginning, I have no motivation to bother.

She must be athletic, my half-serious demand is that she has to beat me at some sport or discipline, not including synchronised anything or badminton. I spend two hours a day, give or take, on some kind of physical activity. Not that she'd have to, but someone not physically active wouldn't really understand my lifestyle.

No tobacco, no cannabis, no drugs. In fact, no addiction or emotional crutch whatsoever. Also, no psychological conditions, no depressions or disorders, I don't have the patience or the subtlety to deal with things like that in someone else.

No religion or superstition. No spirituality, ghosts, angels, karma, horoscopes, curses, dream premonitions or divine laws. No "there's more between heaven and earth than we understand". I have endless toleration for the practises of others, but I would not in a million years be able to have a relationship with someone who believed in such things.

Most important of all, she must be mature. I work damned hard on myself and my life, I can't be with someone who doesn't know who she is, how the world works, what she wants to do or isn't willing to do what's necessary.

Patience, a level head and a calm demeanour would also fit best. Someone impatient with flash tempers or sudden outbursts wouldn't fit me. I'm cold and calculating, someone on the other side of the spectrum would just tip me off balance.

As much as I'd LIKE to say looks come last... they are what we see first so

1) Has to be attractive to me (doesn't matter if others agree)

2) Has to be in the process of getting an education (college or university, or at least has an ambition to be learned)

3) Has to realize I will, on occasion, hang out with my friends for hours and cannot have a problem with it.

4) Has to be capable of accepting changes to plans given appropriate notice.

5) Similar to 4, she has to be able to NOTIFY me about changes appropriately; barring emergencies.

6) Gotta be shorter than me =/

7) Cannot have a problem with me having good friends who are girls and who have known me far longer than she.

8) Has to be willing to have sex at least now and then! Yeesh! I ain't asking for a p*rnstar!

9) No drugs.

10) Should have a decent relationship with her parents

Lol no, God fearing is just having a good connection with God. Believing in a power higher than oneself.

Christianity at it's core, isn't a religion (for us who are deeply involve) it's more of a loving relationship with God.

I know that sounds odd to non-believers but there's more to Christianity than praying and reading the bible.

The idea of being religious for me, shows that a guy is capable of thinking beyond the realm of what is physically real and being faithful to something that is so mysterious. It gives his character more depth in my opinion.

So no, God fearing doesn't mean your going to hell if you don't act good lol

I would prefer someone who comes from a religious background/family, but doesn't practice any religion. This is my background, too and my family is very religious. Also, a lot of people who come from this type of background have taken with them some of the morals and other good things about religion. I would prefer someone Christian or Catholic (any branch). Ermm.. Humour and intelligence are vital. He has to have an open-mind and not be too judgmental of others. Religion doesn't matter, as long as he doesn't try and force his beliefs upon anyone else. Somewhat realistic and not TOO sensitive (because I'm too practical to have to deal with being careful with everything I say, same for my friends & family). I must be attracted to them, and I'd like that they take care of themselves (physical activity & hygiene).

Other than that, I can deal and it depends on what other quirks he has. Each guy is so different from another and I think applying a strict "type" limits who I'll be exposed to. I like diversity, it keeps things interesting.

There are other little things that may or may not influence my decision to date or sleep with someone, but these are the big requirements.
