I made my man stay home to care for me today because my period is soooo terrible that I literally can't walk 😣
I feel like this has to be pretty rare that a guy takes off work because of a period but maybe I'm wrong. Guys have you ever done this or would you do this for your girl?

I'm laughing right now because the above statement is really the truth in so many ways I'm single right now that's another reason why I said it no you can look into the eyes of your partner and you know that if she's in pain you would take the day off or sometime off you would adapt you would adjust and be there for her or at least I would anyway it's not a big deal it's just a part of life it's just a moment in time and it's not really a sacrifice it's just Who You Are and who you want to be so I would have to say yes I would adapt and stay at home whether for the whole day or just a moment of the day I would make something work though
It was not for her period but I've done this before when she was sick - couple times... back when our kids were little and a handful :)

I've done it a few times in the past. Got her the electric heating pad, made her soup and sandwich, did a junk food run, held her in my arms and let her try to sleep it off.
We also played chess and some board games to take her mind off it.

Possibly if it was debilitating. I'd let her listen while I called the boss too. "Yeah, no sorry. Doc's done all he can... just a matter of time. No, I can dig it. She's not that tall." or "Yes, Sir. Transformer blew and spooked her. She tried to jump the fence and got her foot caught up. Doc says we gotta put her down now." Might have something else to say later but either I'd get the day off for such a creative story or I'd get injured myself after getting hit by something she threw in retort and now I can't go to work either.
I mean I think it’s a bit much lol. The idea of it sounds really nice but I genuinely can’t see myself making anyone stay at home with me to take care of me because I’m on my period. Sure I’ll appreciate errands, like getting me sanitary towels and painkillers because I’m too unwell to leave the house, but watching me all day…idk… it’s not really necessary.

If it was that terrible and she asked then I would make an exception, but we have to guard my days off I don't get that many and both kids get sick a lot.

How much leave does he get? In the Navy I got way more time off than I get from a school dustrict.
For sick days, appointments he doesn't have to use leave days. But he has a lot right now like 115 days? I think. Also just had 3 months of baby leave that wasn't counted towards the days.
He gets lots of days it's just a matter of if they want to approve it or not which is only when it's convenient for them

It isn't like I can do anything for a period aside from having sex with my partner. If it's that painful then that would be steps backwards instead of forwards. I did date one girl who had bad periods because of ovarian cysts, meds and a back massage at night helped her out.

I had an E. coli infection, was vomiting and had stomach cramps for 3 days and he only brought me a cup of water and Tylenol on the first day and left me alone the rest of the time.. I got my daughter to bring me a jug of orange juice and it seemed to make me feel better.

Really depends, If we were both tight on money then I wouldn’t be able to, I would have to provide at all costs but if I had a good set of money saved in the bank then I definitely would, I’d love to take a day off and lay with my girl wearing sweat pants and eating chocolate while watching movies in a nice cold room with a bunch of weighted blankets and my dog spread out next to us on the bed
Well that's easy I don't work so I can easily take care of her. But also makes me wonder if it's that bad how did they cope when they were by themselves. Let's say I did have something I needed to do that day it depends what it is really.

No that isn't feasible. If I am home for some reason, I could do some care taking. But she must learn to handle her body. It's not like she could take a day of if I got sick. It's simply not practical in today's society or as a society construct that people get pampered every month. You can always ask for more resources for research and science in the area but that's it.
I’d skip work just to hang out with a significant other. But i will not miss work to care for a sick adult. I’m not tryna be around the sickness. So he also should not come around me if I’m sick or when my period is on. Those 7 days a month will be our physical break from one another. All he can do is send me texts letting me know he misses me and cares
How about this: I would love to have a job (that I don't hate) in which being able to just use that excuse to get out of work or work from home would even be an option. Every job I've ever had has basically been "life, limb, or eyesight only" when it comes to unscheduled time off.

Sure, if I was able to take a day off of work I would. Fortunately I am my own boss work from home for the most part, at least for now, so it’s not difficult to help.
I have taken off work many times to care for her. Not with just her period but other health related issues. I've spent several holidays in the hospital with her. There are many other holidays but there is only one of her

Womem take more sick leave to care if they have childern to care for. Men don't do it as often cuz fathers refuse to split childcare equally since it's seen as a woman's job to care for the kids

Periods are not always the same every month. This time around I literally have a scab coming off my uterus from when I gave birth two months ago. Some women also can get issues from birth control or ovarian cyst that are random or endo problems. Its not something that's the same pain month to month
No I gotcha. I have two bad knees from the Army (one worse then the other). I have three crush vertebrae from an IED in '09 that left me 3/4 inches shorter than I was when I got in the truck. Sometimes if I've been still for too long my legs just go numb and I have to grab something to avoid falling down. Not like normal pins and needles, like, my leg is on fire from this candle that fell over and I am unaware of it. When I had my heart attack there was some nerve damage putting in the stint and if I lay down in a couple really common positions it feels like someone is lightly poking me in the chest with a knife. I'm quite happy about all of this, because being in pain every day means I have a quick reminder that I'm not dead yet, because I can tell that something still hurts. That actually IS the same pain month to month, week to week, and mostly day to day. Two weekends ago I did a half marathon carrying 34lbs. It was unexpectedly hot that day and I got some heat rash under one of my compression socks. Had to rub the cortizone on myself. Didn't need anyone to take off work for it. Didn't even take off work myself. Last time I had shrapnel removed from my body it was with a box cutter in a really boring meeting because it had finally festered up to the surface enough to start snagging on my shirt, which was silk, and I didn't want it getting f'ed up on that sharp whatever the F it was I was going to dig out. My boss asked me to next time at least tourniquet first so I don't flood the table as much if it happens again. I can't find all the scars on my body until I tan or sweat (fun fact, deep scar tissue doesn't sweat, so if you're sweaty and dusty, it'll still be the clean part). The vast majority of women I spend significant time with are also veterans and have had similar experiences (though admittedly fewer of them). None of us are asking anyone to take time off work for that.
Obviously it's something that bothers you enough to write this much about it. You should maybe work on your health and take time off if needed
Maybe old school army was that way but my husband is army and most of them guys take off for the dumbest reasons but I don't blame them no one should have to go to work when they have pain/mental health issues. Best to stay home and refresh yourself then go back to work

That said my health is actually pretty good. I've done a weighted race every weekend of the year and I'm well on par to hit my goal of 40 by years end. I did take the day off after my first marathon. Also, not for nothing, but even in this awkward pose I type nearly 100 wpm. Writing "this much about it" took me less time than going out for a smoke would have if I still smoked ;)
If her period was really bad and she had other problems than that, I’d definitely take off for that day just to take care of her.

Depends on how severe it is. But most of the time, she can handle it but ofcourse im still there if she needs help if im back from work. Getting severe ones everytime is not a good sign actually.
Also if you are just talking about periods, then I don't associate it with having severe cramps by default

@VIVANT exactly it's difficult for me to care for all of my kids when my period is this bad. I can care for the baby since I have to breastfeed but my husband I helping with the older kiddos since they are more difficult
