Is it ok to cuddle with your best guy friend?

(I'm 20, he's 21) So I've been best friends with this guy for about 6 months. He's super awesome. He said he had a crush on me when we first met, but got over me when he realized I liked someone else. Tbh I probably would like him if I wasn't crushing on someone else (still).

Anyway, were platonic. However, we do act differently with each other than our other friends. I've never been so touchy with a guy friend ever. We cuddle, basically I have my legs curled up on his lap, head on his chest while he plays with my hair on the couch. He always buys me surprise treats. He puts his arms around me and tickles me. I hold his arm while walking down busy streets. He always gives me his jacket if I'm cold. We ballroom dance together. We have long phone conversations late at night.

Is this normal for best friends? We've never kissed or anything and he doesn't touch me inappropriately. I'm asking because everywhere we go people automatically assume we're dating...
