if a guy hugs you closely for like 7 or 8 seconds at the least while squeezing just a little but not like hard or anything, what does that mean (and he turned around to talk to a friend while he was still hugging me with both arms for like 3 or 4 more seconds)

and...

what does it mean when a guy puts his arm around your shoulders. and what about around your waist. is there a difference?

He likes you, the only thing is he's probly shy about it, but be carefull, he might just want something, lol as most teen boys do. so just be careful and don't rush on anything, if he wants to be with you or something hell make it known or make a move or ask you out or something so worry not, if he can't bring himself to do any of that then he's not good enough for you.

well the waist and shoulders thing, the shoulders part could be anything, but 99.9% of the time if a guy keeps puttin g his hand around or on your waist then he's trying to be close to you and be touching you as though you're his. but like I said if he likes you like that and wants something more to come of it hell try for it. or just try talking to him about it. lol

It depends on the context. If this happened during a party, he could just have been a little drunk. An arm around the waist is a lot more intimate than the shoulders. It also means he's comfortable enough around you to do it.
