Why did a guy tell me that he wants to hang out with me sober?

I’ve been seeing this guy that I met on a dating app for about a month now we’ve probably hung out a total of like five or six times and every time we hang out we drink. He texted me today though and said that the next time we hang out he wants to hang out sober. Also when I’m in person with him sometimes and we’re drinking he always says we still need to hang out sober sometime. Is he asking me this to see if he actually really likes me? Or what’s the motive behind hanging out sober?

Thank you. I guess I’m afraid he’ll only like me drunk and not sober and I have generalized anxiety disorder so drinking helps me not be awkward or nervous so hanging out sober terrifies me

This is a good sign. He noticed that everytime you two hangout, there’re drinks involved. He wants to know the “sober you”. He is curious about your “real” personality. Give him a chance to explore the real you and have fun in the process. Best or luck!

I think it is a good sign. I think he doesn't want your evolving friendship (or relationship) to be centered around alcohol perhaps?

Try taking it slow when he is around. Best to take 2 to 3 beers and ur good, u know

I get that booze/drugs can help you relax, I am not a social person. He is wanting to see if there is chemistry with both of you sober, because sometimes it's easier to be around someone under the influence than sober. It's a good sign.

And I’m not A social person either Unless I drink so that’s why I drink every time I’m around him because it makes me easy-going and social and fun. So I honestly don’t know how to be around him sober

Give it a couple times sober, if you're still not comfortable, then it might not be a good match
