Most guys rightly interpret that as shallow and high maintenance because the majority of women who look like that are... Polygamous, materialist, and Anti Male.
Your best bet for a happy life is to study psychology a little bit, amd ask out a guy that you know is a good guy. If you want a longterm commitment from a good man you'll have to make sure your at the front of the line, which is easy for women. The culture pressures women to be passive in mate selection and the media and legal systems punish men for pursuing women... In the name of feminism. It sucks but its up to you to make the difference in your life.

Feminine is better in my opinion. Just be yourself. Don’t worry about what everyone wants. Just be you. Tons of guys like pretty, feminine women. I know I do.
My parter is like that. Very feminine, beautiful. But she is also smart and strong and very capable. I find that combination to be sexy. Feminine does not mean you are less capable and can’t handle yourself. You don’t have to dress like a man and be a feminist to be a strong capable woman.

I could never date an androgynous woman. I like femininity. Although being feminine and being high maintenence aren't the same thing, so I don't know if those guys are just intimidated, or if there's something else you're doing that gives an impression of "high maintenence".
Things that turn me off personally are a messy washroom because makeup and hair supplies are scattered everywhere, wearing too much makeup, spending too much time on makeup (especially if it is a daily thing), and also if you are too insecure to leave the house or any reason without makeup. I'm sure plenty of guys don't care about any of that, but I personally hate all of the above.
Stay as you're that what women supposed to be don't listen to the feminism or else you will end up alone with a cat and ask where all the good men did go on TikTok.
Men like feminine women who have inner peace and quiet not loud androgynous damn women who have competing mindset.

Yes, it's a turnoff; because high-maintenance women always seem to have a chip on their shoulder. Because they're irritated that they had to put "all of this effort" into their looks -- when the fact is no one asked them to (including me.)
