Why do guys want/need to hear your voice?

I’ve been texting this guy for a while (started from dating site) and he asked to call me like 3x but I never got to it because I have a lot of anxiety for Stuff like this 😅. I like to talk in person and not via the phone. He asked me out but doesn’t know where he wants to go👀. (Which is weird ish)
So he asked to call again and I said to myself FK it okay stop being a P@ssy.
Surprised he stayed talking to me after I declined 3x.

Anyways he called I answer (almost didn’t 😂 ) and he talk ask what am doing and so on and that he just wanted to hear my voice.

My question is: why is hearing someone’s voice before going on a date important?
