Can you believe I spent two flipping years in my late 20s thinking an older male coworker might actually really love me?

I spent TWO YEARS. Thinking this guy merely saying hello almost every day he saw me in an excited voice meant he loved me. He did more than that but lately its just been hello's because I barely see him at work anymore

TWO YEARS secretly thinking this older man really had some sort of feelings (not including wanting to use me for sex if he somehow got the opportunity to) for me. He actually did sort of lead me on. With compliments and stuff ages ago. But the fact i am stunned by is that I spent 2 years thinking he was might one day ask me on a chivalrous date and we could end up married and he secretly loved me even in the slightest or had some love for me even if not actually in love.

Think about it.

TWO YEARS.
Thinking 'hello <insert my name>!' Meant we might end up together.

Yessss 100%. Funny cause the narrative is that a woman is some heartless evil person if she doesn't chose a man based on her hormones or romantic emotions and instead on his character, their shared future and if he's a breadwinner. Even lots of males shame women for wanting a breadwinner. They are effeminate and lazy. They want to be the woman.

Well, that's a fine line. I don't think a woman should choose a man based on the amount of money he makes. It's one of the things I admonish woman after woman on here for. Not for my benefit, but for hers. I always say focus on the man's character. Jobs are gained and lost, fortunes come and go. But a man of character is perpetual. Choose a man of character and regardless of the situation he'll remain relentless. And one thing life has taught me. You're can't be defeated if you're unwilling to quit.

There was nothing there. Actually there was less than nothing. In fact despite his compliments, he was also degrading me and trying to put me down multiple times with his words. So he is a totally fake person. He has no character. It is sad. I was clouded for TWO YEARS all because i fell in love at first sight AND quickly after lust with this man. Just looking at his boring elbow/arm made me aroused like I never was for a man in real life. I don't know how I let this get so out of hand. I guess I let myself daydream about him.
