Confusing behaviour from guy who moved away?

This guy I was into, I thought he was into me as well. He acted like he was into me, would flirt with me all year and texted me with selfies of himself and told our mutual friends he fancied me, but he ended up moving away suddenly. I texted him before he moved away saying I wanted to get to know eachother better, and he didn’t reply, just sent a smiley and an x back. So basically pied me off. I’m so confused because he acted into me?

He probably did find u attractive etc but didn’t want anything because he was moving. That would be my guess, although I would need to know more details. Or he wasn’t after a serious relationship at that time
