We were on the same friends group, but not that close before he got promoted and became my boss. After that, we started working closer together and we discovered we are very much alike. He is a great guy but seriously even if he wasn't my boss, he still isn't really the type I am usually attracted to. We do get along really well, but for me its like dating your twin brother.
But I am asking here, coz I just wanna be prepared to handle the whole situation and if not then I just don't wanna be unnecessary act awkward towards him.
He praises me a whole lot in front of everyone more than the others. He goes out of his way to make me comfortable. Constantly asks me how I am, comes over and chats with me in the mornings, etc. Since we like the same music, whenever I have to finish something that I have to pull all-nighters he would send me some playlist to listen to (we like the same genre). When things doesn't go well (doesn't happen a lot), he immediately makes sure that I don't get escalated or get into trouble. He fought so hard for his boss to agree to first give me a promotion (I deserved it but due to weird reasons they didn't wanna give it) and several years later gave me a raise and a bonus that I didn't officially ask for (just hinted it). He even had a huge fight with another person in a meeting because that person was trying to put me on the spot. He confide things to me that I shouldn't know (way above my paycheck).
One time a guy who like to jerk around people to see their reaction came to me and told me he wanted to pinch my cheeks coz I look like a 10 year old, and my boss rushed to my rescue, pissed off. From then on that other guy purposely play childish pranks and tease me by shuffling my hair etc. whenever my boss is around to see it. He never touched or anything, not even a friendly hug to wish me for Christmas, although recently 2x he touched both of my shoulders to move me out of the way.
