Ex playing mind games?

Okay long story short my ex broke up with me 3 months ago. Our relationship was brilliant at the start but then the smallest disagreement would get blown out of proportion by him and he would end things. Then he would chase me and want me back.
Recently he has been stalking my instagram and messaging my friend whenever he has seen me on their snap story (he never goes out of his way to message my friend any other time). He has me removed from all his social media, removed me as a friend on snap and the other day he made his story public, so it showed up on my snapchat. He did this the first time we broke up too, and later admitted he was trying to see if I would watch his stories. I gave in to temptation and watched his story and then he blocked me 20 minutes later. He has now unblocked me 2 days later and is back to posting public stories. Can someone please tell me what he is trying to do right now? Is he trying to get my attention or what? Very confused right now haha

He is exaggerately toxic, texbook definition of toxic, that's exactly what he does: push and pull, mixed signals, forcing you to feel guilty and bad by using drastic measures then trying to get you back, to then do it again. What he wants to do for real is to make you feel very guilty for what you have "done" to his ego, and to ugly cry desperately to get him to allow you to talk to him again, or to give you attention. He wants to control you through guilt and when he notices he didn't reach his goals, he retreats with a couple of steps back, to try later. He is now addicted to this challenge because this is the way he sees to make you "repay" for the "disrespect", so as much you try to avoid him or go completely indifferent, as much he'll get desperate to cause some effects. And when he does, he instantly proceeds with punishments, like: he got to make you look at his stories, then "punished" you with blocking, on purpose, as soon as he saw this small vulnerability of your potential interest in his stuff, in the attempt to hurt you.
Now, all these games are manipulative and toxic to its fullest, and beside the strategy itself, if the goal is to make you feel guilty and vulnerable to his games, you can 100% say any possible relationship with him is impossible because it lacks of the most fundamental component which is "care" for each other. Wanting someone doesn't include caring, but that is the root of love, and you don't want to be in a relationship just to feel wanted but not cared, right?
For the future: be absolutely sure that someone with such ego issues, easy to trigger and revengeful, will NOT change for the next 5 years, at least (at least!) and if he does after years, it will be in minimal things but the problematic core will remain. So don't be tempted to think he will change as he might get to promise when desperately trying to get you back. He will, when you'll go completely indifferent and moved on. This is also the type of person who could stalk you irl. Because he is addicted to his challenge to submit you to guilt and desperation to repay the "debt" he feels. And as much he puts energy into these games, as much he needs something to pay those energies back, and the addiction increases. Do not fuel all this crap anymore.

He is your ex and does not have a right to be playing mind games. If he is bothering you so much then ask him to leave you alone and block him. That should take care of it.

I don't know what he is doing or thinking I can't read his mind. But I do know that you know if he is bothering you or not
