Why does my ex still want to see me?

My ex of 6 years and I broke up (amicable/mutual) almost a year ago. Since then we’ve remained friends and hook up here and there but we live across the state from each other so it’s only happened once or twice. Right now he has this sick beach house in San Diego until the end of the summer and he invited me to come stay for the weekend. Clearly I know this entails sex and I haven’t been hooking up much so it sounded nice to get laid. It’s a few days before my trip and I found out my ex (who I knew was sleeping with other women) has a friends with benefits that he consistently sleeps with. I’m just confused now because i thought he was just doing one night stands and wanted someone familiar (me) to come for the weekend. But if he already has a friends with benefits, why do you think he wants me to visit? I guess it could be as simple as wanting his cake and eating it too but to me it seems strange. If I was having regular good sex with someone I wouldn’t feel the need to go get laid by my ex. I just prefer to hook up with a few people here and there and haven’t really looked for a friends with benefits myself.

So he has to have the same opinion as you about sex? Why do women always do this? We aren't wired the same, we think differently. I'm wondering how you know so much about his sex life. That's pretty weird.
