Why would a guy think EVERY woman is in love with him, and brag about rejecting women?

Why does this guy I know think every girl fancies and is in love with him? He's quite attractive to be fair but not drop-dead gorgeous or anything. But he goes around treating (attractive) women terribly and then brags about rejecting them, and them being "in love" with him when he didn't want them. He also takes pride in leading girls on; he'll say he really likes them and then will talk behind their backs and try to humiliate them before rejecting them.

He's in my friend group; he's come onto me and he said he "always gets what he wants" which makes me feel weird. I find him really gross but he probably thinks I'll fall for him as well. Why is he like this? I already know to reject him by the way.

For validation and attention. He doesn't want women to mock him for his lack of success with women. By doing what he's doing he can smack talk use the women who loved him as a way to defend himself when a woman says "you can't even get laid" or questions his sexuality. he'll just start talking about all the women he rejected. It's just a defense mechanism to protect himself from hurtful comments. I am not saying what he's doing is right. Just explaining it. The fact that you're paying attention to it shows that it's an effective strategy. He wants girls to pay attention to him.

Yes I don't think it makes him look good just gives attention and seem like he's a player guy.

You are describing a narcissist - a guy who is selfish, arrogant, and has a huge ego. If he's even a little above average in looks, then he's not wrong. The reality is that a large percentage of women go for such men, and they do it over and over and over again, so those guys really do get tons of women.

Certainly not all women go for these guys, but you would be surprised by how many do. Many of those women are smart enough and experienced enough to know that he's a Bad Boy who is almost certainly going to hurt her (emotionally), but they find those guys so attractive that they go for them anyway. Guys will try to warn them and are always ignored, and if their female friends warn her, she just assumes they are jealous.

It sounds like you are smarter than that, which he's not used to, but he may see you as a challenge and try to prove his skills by manipulating you into dating him. And don't be shocked if he bangs 3 of your friends.
