Why would a guy think EVERY woman is in love with him, and brag about rejecting lots of women?

Why would a guy think every woman is in love with him and desperate to date him, when they aren't? Why would he brag about rejecting women or using them? I know this guy in my social circle who's quite attractive, he's decent but not anywhere near a male model or actor or anything. But he love-bombs girls, some of them quite pretty, leads them on and then rejects them brutally. Then he brags about it and goes "I can get whoever I want and they're desperate even though I didn't want them back." And laughs behind their backs. Some of these girls didn't even like him at first, but he lead them on.

What's wrong with him? Why does he feel the need to do this?

That's some poor attempt to play hard to get and to look attractive to you because of that. As if he should look like a challenge to you, to get his full attention and dedication where other girls didn't manage to get that, getting addicted.
If he wants you and you refuse, he will take you as a challenge first, and will most likely start impressing you or lovebomb you until you "believe" that, then once he "got" you, he becomes the challenge to get instead, because he will start distancing and treating you poorly, while you struggle in trying to figure how to interpret his mixed signals.
Of course he is a jerk, do you even wonder? Refuse all of his attempt. A guy with actual qualities doesn't need to create his value artificially by posing a challenge and bragging about lies... And anyway, I think, in a relationship you look first of all for trust and connection, not this kind of garbage, so... Let him swim in his melted ego.

I don’t understand the ego boost of people intentionally leading someone on just to brutally reject them. I think that is very shitty.

Rejecting someone isn’t fun. But also if I don’t like someone. I don’t show any interest. I also don’t want to kill someone’s confidence if I’m in a relationship or just not into her. I would want her to find a guy who is into her.

I get that sometimes someone is really annoying and can’t take no for a answer and that is where you have to be more firm and put your foot down.

There is guys and gals who do this kind of thing. If you’re not into someone. Then don’t flirt with them.
