You find this news through a letter claiming that half a billion dollar inheritance has been named in your wife's name.

The guy in the movie found this through the diary he kept. The baby was not premature but was 1 month early. And he cross-referenced the dates.

But I did not like how he reacted afterward.

What will be your reaction here in this case?

It is not that she did not lie, but it is that she could not find the right time to talk with you about it.

Imagine yourself bathing in your own success, focusing on yourself only, your career, and very rare attention towards your wife.

She did not get the chance and hoped that the same subject never came up again. Also, she was a really good wife to you, a really good mother to the child.

Suppose it to be a one-time mistake. What then?

"Suppose it to be a one-time mistake. What then?" Once you find out someone was unfaithful, you can never trust them again. How do you KNOW that is was a one-time mistake? Don't tell me that I need to trust her when she tells me that.

How you react in such a situation is largely determined by emotions, not logic or intellect. I could tell you now how I would react but I really have no idea how I would react if I really confronted the situation. It's like. . . lots of people can tell you that they are opposed to the death penalty, but if there little sister was gang raped and then murdered, lots of them would want to be the executioner.

that child of mine have been growing in my heart and in my life as my child for at least 16 years, so... a piece of paper over a technicality will never erase none of that happiness

about the inheritance and stuff, that paperwork is for lawyers, they'll take care of it

I would file for divorce immediately. I would not treat my child.. Yes I said my child, any differently. But I would kick the cheating fucking whore to the curb. I would also see to it her entire family, her friends, and really anyone who k ows her, knows exactly why I removed her from my life.. She would stop being human in my eyes. Only people not capable of loving anyone but them selves cheat.

I would still divorce per your update. Not having the time to tell me is no excuse, any neglect from me is no excuse. I have a zero tolerance policy toward disloyalty.

In California an inheritance is separate property even if you are married so I would have zero claim to it unless she received it and then died intestate or named me as heir to it in her will or trust or as pay on death recipient in her account (s).

Probably a divorce, if it was my only child id bow out and disappear, pay the child support until 18, make the ex wife sign over rights to the alimony in exchange for the house, take everything that was mine and move on to a new life

I would consider sitting with her and telling her the truth. Then I would man-up like never before to demonstrate "good Dad"... that means not acting out against the Mom etc... And supporting her in Daddy hunt? Not an expert !!!
