Why does my mum's boyfriend insult me?

I get some of it is joking around, but he keeps calling me a pleb (which I get is a joke) and he said I'm an "8/10" and keeps nitpicking my appearance. He says my hair is "dry and greasy looking". He was comparing my mother's looks to mine and insulting me. Why does he do this around my mother? I've told her it makes me uncomfortable and she talked to him about it, but he hasn't stopped.

Maybe he's teasing and doesn't realise it? Try to tell him how it comes off he might just apologise. Or, he is rather insecure and feels the need to pick on others to feel better. He doesn't do it to your mum because that's his partner, so he does it to her daughter to deflect. Messed up, but that might be the reason.

Honestly (and unfortunately), it probably because you are far more attractive to him than your mother.
