My crush asked me how long I've been talking to another guy, is this an indication that he might like me?

So. I have a crush on a guy that I met through a friend and have been chatting with through messenger. We hang out in a group setting with mutual friends sometimes.

I met him a couple months ago and we became friends on Facebook at around new years but we only have very light hearted and basic conversations, that you'd have with any friend, he has never indicated that he might like me too.

Just recently I sent him a message saying that I've been talking with a guy mate of his, let's just say his name is John, so I sent this 'hey, your friend John added me on Facebook and we've been talking abit, he's pretty cool' and he replied 'oh crack up, how long have you been talking to him for?', I replied 'not long' and he said 'fair enough'.

Is that an indication that he might like me? Or am I reading too much into it?
