This guy and I have gotten into our first little argument. I call this little because there wasn't much going back & forth but I can tell he's upset.
I asked him when will be the next time I get to see him and also gave him a heads up that I will be out of town for the weekend (which he already knew) and if we could squeeze in a day to hang out.
He suggested Saturday, forgetting I was out of town and I asked him "how about Thursday instead?" and he said he's signed up for a fitness class that day.
I made a light joke or so I thought and said "You hate me ):" and he kind of blew up and said "I told you I planned on signing up for one. I will not apologize for what I am doing to prepare for my career. I told you from the jump how career driven I am." - he's applying for a fire department.
I apologized to him and let him know that I fully understand & support how career driven he is. It wasn't my intention to stop him from doing whatever or make it come off as some type of way.
He then replied with, "I get that but don't play this bullshit saying I hate you when I have stuff to do"
I apologized again and said it just came off the wrong way and I'm sorry he's upset. He hasn't responded to me since and now I don't know what to do because it was miscommunication. He's basically giving me the silent treatment and it feels so cruel.
