Should I give up on this guy or do some popular men usually ignore because you will always respond?

So I have been seeing a guy. When we first met I really didn’t think that he liked me so I didn’t have high expectations of him wanting to see me again. So I’d let him contact me and it has been frequent and we have been seeing each other frequently. He basically makes the shots of when we see each other. I saw him 6 days ago and he had to go away for the weekend for work. He told me he would be in contact after the weekend. But I ended up texting him on the weekend with no reply. I also texted last night with no reply. Should I give up on him? Or is he testing me to see if I will get annoyed at no response as I know he has had some women who were needy in the past and demanding. Also does he seem controlling by always wanting to take the lead? He has also gone 1 week without replying before.

I'm clingy I'm a whole brat so I don't know but follow his lead. He could also be trying to see how much you like him. Don't do too much. Go out shopping take your mind off of things for another day or 2
